THE FORBIDDEN SONGS is a poetic and performative short documentary, that follows the story of practitioner and director Varna Marianne Nielsen, on her journey to uncover the untold (hi)stories of her ancestors and revive the once forbidden heritage of Greenland, Drumdancing and Drumsinging. In this second episode of four, she dives into her lineage of drumdancers from East Greenland, who came before her.
The series is in Greenlandic, with English subtitles.
